Why
Most Diets Fail
It's
Official:
Atkins Nutritionals Inc., founded by the late diet guru Robert Atkins, filed for
bankruptcy protection in New York after consumer interest in low-carbohydrate
weight-loss programs faded.
Too Complicated - Counting calories,
preparing special meals, low fat diets, carbohydrate diets, if it is too
complicated you just won't stick to it. There is one thing any reputable
health professional will say. Losing weight is simple math - take in fewer
calories per day than you burn.
The Yo-Yo effect - Why do so
many people work so hard to lose weight only to put it back on (even worse
- put more on)? Studies show that lifestyle and genetics play major roles
in weight loss. You can't change your genetics, but you can change your
habits.
No Support / No discipline - Q:
How many people know they need to lose weight, exercise more and eat better?
A: Everyone! Then why don't we do it? Consider this, how much more likely
are you to go to the gym by yourself verses if your personal trainer is
waiting there for you?
Flavor Fatigue - One of the
biggest reasons people don't stick to their program is boredom. If there
is no variety or you just don't like the flavor of the food, you simply
will not stay with it, no matter how motivated you are.
Gimmicks - Appetite suppressants,
secret herbs, special formulas that make you burn fat while you sleep,
what sounds too good to be true usually is. Success stories are great,
but make sure your program is backed by solid clinical studies.
