While in Athens, I chose to take a cooking class on preparing traditional Greek dishes. One of the first things we made in that (six-hour + tiring + incredible) class was this Tzatziki!

I made a few adjustments to fit my taste (mainly due to the fact that I do not like a TON of dill in my Tzatziki), however do not hesitate to explore your own amounts of each active ingredient!

Here are a couple of pointers and tricks I got in class:

  • Ensure your grated cucumber is well-drained. If you have time, you can drain it in cheesecloth or a fine mesh screen. overnight.
  • You can use your hands to squeeze the liquid out of the cucumber if you’re in a rush.
  • The longer the garlic rests in the yogurt, the less sharp bite it will have and the better it will taste.
  • For finest results, integrate all of the ingredients except for the cucumber and dill, then let it rest over night in the fridge while your cucumber is draining.
  • Add the dill at the last minute so it does not overwhelm the remainder of the flavors.

This is scrumptious and so appetizing; best spread over some warm bread! I also enjoy to utilize it as a spread for sandwiches, especially the kind that are made in a pita.

While you’re at it, why not plan an enjoyable little dinner celebration with a menu of.Greek Mezes.? I’d start with this Potato Skordalia., Classic.Greek Salad., and.Greek Feta and Red Pepper Dip..

Make these cute little if you have leftovers.Tzatziki Bites.with Greek Salsa!
