First of all, losing weight has never been easier than with Take Shape for Life. With the 5&1 Plan, there is no calorie counting, no points system, no diet pills and no confusion. The program consists of clinically proven foods designed to help you lose 3-5 pounds per week. HereGÇÖs all you have to do when on the Medifast/Take Shape for Life 5 & 1 Plan

  • Medifast Meals per day (any 5 meals; limit 1 bar per day)
  • 1 GÇ£Lean & GreenGÇ¥ per day Lean Meat - 7 ounces of chicken, turkey or fish; or 5 ounces of lean beef, pork or lamb Salad/Vegetables - 2 cups salad greens and up to 1/2 cup raw vegetables (any kind); or 1 1/2 cups cooked vegetables. You may also use 1-2 tablespoons of Medifast Dressing or any low fat and low carb dressing.
  • Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of non-caloric fluids per day, preferably water. Because you eat every 2-3 hours, you will not be hungry or lack energy. You may stay on the 5&1 Plan until you have lost your desired amount of weight, then move to the Take Shape for Life Transition Plan.

Please note that the 5&1 Plan allows for a flexible weight-loss program where you can GÇ£mix & matchGÇ¥ any of our Medifast Meals 5 times per day. However, we suggest that you limit yourself to 1 bar per day due to the higher calorie and carbohydrate content compared to other Medifast Meals.

  • Don’t Eat extra carbohydrates. Just one slice of bread or a single piece of fruit can put you out of ketosis, you risk losing energy, becoming more hungry, having stronger cravings and experiencing slower weight loss.
  • Do-áMake sure to have 3 Medifast Meals by 2:00 PM, as part of your daily routine.
  • Do Be sure to enjoy 1 of our products every 3-4 hours. Never go over 4 hours without eating.
  • Do Eat Slowly! It should take no less than 15 minutes to finish a product. Help Hint: Use a straw for shakes or cut up bars into small pieces to help you slow down while eating.
  • Do Drink lots of water! Drink about 64 ounces of water a day.
  • Do Use the GÇ£free foodsGÇ¥ as snacks if needed (up to 3 stalks of celery, Medifast Fast Soups, Medifast Crackers, diet drinks, a small green salad, a dill pickle, etc.).
  • Do Start your Transition Plan once you reach your goal weight.
